Safety Adviser (QLD)

Today, this includes the supply and installation of steel house frames and roofing, lightweight cladding, guttering and downpipes, garage doors and energy solutions.

About the position:

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving a safety first culture and handling safety matters for all of our branches throughout Queensland. While there will be some travel initially while you assess these locations, while being based at Head Office, in Darra, QLD, frequent regional travel is not envisaged. You understand that much of managing and supporting safety is hands on, but you still understand your success is in gaining the support of the day to day management in the business to drive a safety first culture.

A typical day in the role may involve:

  • Providing on-site compliance monitoring, advice and consultation to subcontractors 
  • Support the Return to Work (RTW) Coordinator with state based injury and return to work programs
  • Conduct audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and reduce risks
  • Assist Branch Managers and Head Office (Darra, QLD) location (including a warehouse) in all areas of safety
  • Respond to incident/accidents promptly and professionally  
  • Regular reporting with a focus on continuous improvement of our safety outcomes and culture overall.

Required candidate attributes: 

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety, ideally working towards a Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety or have already acquired
  • Minimum 3 years in a Safety role within the residential construction industry
  • Construction Induction Safety certificate (White Card) - preferred
  • Intermediate knolwedge of WH&S Law
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven problem solver and ability to provide solutions
  • Excellent rapport building skills - internally and externally
