About the Opportunity

TAL has Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) tax withholding obligations in relation to certain income replacement benefits it pays to Group policy claimants.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide exceptional customer experience to claimants by providing solutions, analysing and resolving complex issues for the correct operational application of PAYG withholding and reporting implications for claims activities across TAL to ensure accurate and timely processes and related services across claim business.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day TAL Claims PAYG obligations

  • Ensuring all claims PAYG withholding data is correct, having been calculated, authorised, entered and transferred in a timely manner

  • Ensuring systems reflect the relevant, up-to-date withholding rates and payment summary requirements  

  • Supporting claims managers in responding to ad hoc withholding questions and/or PAYG payment summary queries from members

  • Approving issue of amended PAYG payment summaries when required and addressing PAYG complex queries as required

  • Administering specialist PAYG activities such as organising periodic claims analysis for overpayments, write off and member recovery agreements, maintaining database which tracks overpayments and recoveries and initiate amended PAYG payment summary process across all claim systems when required

  • Supporting claim managers to calculate back payments PAYG withholding tax

  • Supporting claims managers in entering into the systems ("booking") components of settlements/litigated claims and working out PAYG withholding and reporting

  • Supporting claim managers in booking ancillary benefits paid and working out PAYG withholding and reporting

  • Reviewing and sign off on regular PAYG reports from the systems that support remittances of tax to the ATO

  • Involvement in annual  PAYG mailing activities including the data integrity activities, signing off on the correctness of all data, production and mailing of statements and the preparation and lodgement of annual file to the  ATO

  • Documentation and maintenance of policies and procedures

  • Implement guidelines and procedures within scope of responsibility, reviewing their quality and efficiency and formulating recommendations for continuous improvements that meet best practice and business goals

  • Support training initiatives for Claims staff in relation to PAYG tax withholding

 

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Knowledge of the PAYG tax rules and how they apply in for example, a workers compensation, income replacement or payroll/salary and wages context 

  • Knowledge and experience working in a payroll/PAYG issue management environment

  • Exceptional customer service and service oriented approach

  • Good interpersonal skills, establishing effective relationship with internal and an external costumers

  • Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills with a positive and practical approach to customers while service excellence in a timely manner

  • Highly organised, excellent time management and the ability to multi task

  • The ability to tailor information to suit individual requirements

  • Deadline orientated

  • Strong analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail

  • Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Professional suite (particularly Excel, Word)

  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to change

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of the team

  • Previous experience in a similar role
