IT Systems and Infrastructure Administrator

Our IT Operations Team is looking for a passionate and driven team player for a 12 month fixed term opportunity within our Head Office in Newcastle.  Reporting to our Technical Services Manager, this position will present you with the opportunity to be part of an innovative team and allow you to contribute to the continuous improvement of nib’s business applications as well having the opportunity to work with some industry leading technologies.

 What you will do

  • Develop and foster a customer care philosophy that ensures customer satisfaction in a punctual, professional, cooperative and courteous manner.
  • Develop strong and positive relationships with internal and external vendors in order to resolve technical problems
  • Focus on delivering efficient quality and consistency across all disciplines
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills. Able to think outside the square and challenge incumbent processes.
  • Design, implement and maintain IT systems and infrastructure across a multinational
  • Maintain the integrity, quality and reliability of all nib systems together with the effective maintenance and operation of relevant systems equipment and software (hardware, infrastructure, operating system, databases and communications).
  • Work across a wide range of IT stakeholders in a cross functional environment, including working with development teams to build a continuous delivery model by innovative development and operating practices
  • Work closely across the nib Group on some unique industry strategic projects
  • Support the business by ensuring the availability of our systems globally during unplanned outages

 About you

You have are able to quickly learn and adapt to new and different technologies. You have a wide range of skills in enterprise concepts/technologies, such as (but certainly not limited to):

  • Amazon Web Services
  • VMware vSphere
  • Server/SAN Administration
  • Database Administration (Postgres/MSSQL)
  • LAN/WAN/Firewalls
  • Network Load Balancing

 

You have a passion for automation and scripting, using languages and tools like:

  • PowerShell
  • Go
  • Puppet
  • Ansible
