We are seeking an experienced Tax Specialist to join our client's organisation for 18-months to improve tax compliance in an advisory role.

Client Details

Our client is a Federal government body responsible for administering the superannuation legislation and for the operations within the portfolio of the federal Treasurer.

Description

As a Tax Specialist, you will be accountable for but not limited to the following:

  • Undertaking and managing complex end-to-end assurance or compliance activity, including risk identification, technical analysis and preparation of legal positions;
  • Providing quality advice on tax compliance risks and tax law policy development;
  • Identifying and dealing with aggressive tax planning, including the application of integrity measures;
  • Analysing and interpreting financial statements;
  • Applying a range of information technology applications and research tools to assess performance and risks; and
  • Understanding and have practical experience in mergers and acquisitions, restructures and transactions cross-border tax structuring, undertaking tax due diligence and identifying areas of risk from tax and financial information.

Profile

To be successful for this role, you will essentially have the following:

  • Knowledge and experience of the income tax and GST legislative and financial environments, particularly in the areas of large public groups, multinational enterprises, private groups;
  • An understanding and experience of the structures and tax planning approaches used in the multinational enterprises and large public groups, private groups and high wealth individual markets;
  • Achieved outcomes within set time frames;
  • Negotiated with clients and stakeholders using professional judgement and knowledge to influence outcomes;
  • Develop less experienced staff to make technical decisions;
  • A degree in tax, accounting (must be Chartered and CPA qualified), commerce or law; and
  • Have 5+ year's experience in the tax, accounting or law fields (ideally from a mid-tier or big 4 firm).

  • Put clients, external and internal, at the centre of everything they do;
  • Work collaboratively with others to deliver the right outcomes for the community;
  • Take ownership. exercise judgement and make reasonable decisions;
  • Work in a flexible environment and adapt to meet immediate and future challenges; and
  • Serve the community by being passionate, committed, professional, energetic and determined in everything they do.
