About the opportunity

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to manage a retail space that will not only maximise your superior retailing knowledge, people skills and Op Shop expertise but also allows you to use your networking capabilities to engage in the community services aspect of the work Uniting undertakes.

As Manager, your role takes responsibility for the day to day management and operation of the Opportunity Shop with the aim of using your financial acumen to grow the business, building on a well established local community connection, all of which is achieved through your ability to develop the skills and capacity of our staff and volunteers in a thriving retail environment.

Our iconic building, with over 70 years of service delivery, has a long held tradition of providing support to vulnerable people and our Op Shops are a big part of what connects us to the local community.

Position Description

About you

You will be someone with a history of demonstrable skills in effective people management, deep knowledge of the local marketplace and you are up for the challenge of building a vibrant and enticing retail environment.

Your understanding of the Op Shop Customer, how to maximise revenue and the nuances of this retail environment will place you in a preferred position above all others.

Your leadership experience and talents will put you in good stead when supporting up to 30 loyal volunteers and deeply committed staff.

Stakeholder engagement plays a big part in the day to day activities of your role, you will be exposed to all sorts of interesting and colourful people who visit Chapel St. We can guarantee that every day will be different!
