Senior Metadata Analyst

  • Support users from across the enterprise so that they get the best experience and value from the system

About the role
As part of the major transformation of its data environment, NAB is establishing a new metadata system. You will be part of the business operations team, providing support to users of this application and monitoring of its content. Working with the other projects and business functions, you will ensure that the service delivers to the requirements of its stakeholders, that users are able to get best utility from its functions, and that the quality of information provided meets the needs of consumers. 

This is a new operations team being built around a new critical asset of the Bank. The metadata system will ensure that downstream access, usage and controls of the data across NAB’s strategic data platforms are suitable given the nature of the data and the consumers of it.  The metadata system also provides supports business users and analysts who are seeking to understand change impacts or investigate issues in data and reports.
 
Responsibilities include

Assist in creating new, maintaining and in the ongoing uplift of business, technical and operational metadata for the enterprise, while ensuring that metadata is captured, managed and useful to the consumers. 

  • Assists with creating new and managing existing metadata (Business/Technical/Operational) in the enterprise glossaries.
  • Support data stewards and business SMEs as owners of the metadata.
  • Support stewards, analysts and downstream consumers of the metadata
  • Provide operational support of metadata for the enterprise via metadata tooling support, reporting and management of metadata workflow.
  • Ensuring metadata standards and frameworks are applied and adhered to.
  • Work with the operations teams to enforce the standards and practices needed to ensure quality of the metadata
  • Support user and management requests to draw metadata content or report on the state of the content

About You
You have a minimum five years of data experience, preferably working in key operational areas within Australian banking enterprises in one or more of consumer banking, business banking, finance or risk roles. Ideally, you will have worked across both business and technology, and possess an understanding of data modelling and data architecture and how these are shaped to support business functions. Outstanding written skills are a must, specifically an ability to communicate complex subjects in a clear and concise manner.  You can engage with stakeholders from various parts of the organisation, and frame issues in both business and technology terms.
