Mechanic - Small Engine

Perisher is the operator of the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere, located in the beautiful Snowy Mountains region of South Eastern NSW, just a two-hour drive from Canberra and the Far South Coast. Perisher is part of Vail Resorts who own and operate ski resort operations across the USA, Canada and Australia including iconic resorts such as Park City, Beaver Creek, Whistler Blackcomb and Vail.

We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified, competent and self-motivated candidate to join our dynamic company in the role of Small Engine Mechanic. Employment will initially be based on a 12 month, Fixed-Term employment contract with a view to becoming a Permanent appointment post this initial engagement.

To be considered for this role, the successful applicant will need to possess the following:

  • Certificate III in a Mechanical discipline
  • Experience in 2- and 4-stroke small engine motor servicing, repairs and rebuilds
  • Current driver’s license
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of our overall Workshop team
  • A flexible attitude towards hours of work
  • A NSW Tradesperson Certification or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of WH&S regulations
  • Initiative to bring new ideas and processes
  • Possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Mechanics are employed under the Perisher Trades Enterprise Agreement 2018 and the successful candidate will be paid an hourly rate between $31.25 to $38.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, skills and experience, with the potential for overtime during our busy winter season.

Outside of the winter operational period, Perisher Mechanics work a roster of 4 x 9.5 hour days for the majority of the off-season. During the winter months, Mechanics work a variety of shifts in order to ensure general and preventative maintenance of all machinery is to a high standard and is safe for operation. Shift penalties will apply as per the Perisher Trades Enterprise Agreement 2018.

In addition to the wage levels outlined above, the successful candidate will also be provided with an exceptional employee benefits package, including a season’s pass that incorporates Lift access, Skitube travel, free Ski and Board Group Lessons, discounted Hire equipment and discounts at our Perisher Food and Beverage and Retail outlets.

Possible tax benefits resulting from living in a remote area may apply and we can assist in sourcing local accommodation, should the successful applicant require.
