Electrical Engineer

The Role:

Do you want to be part of a leading organisation, which dates back 300 years in the shipbuilding industry? This is a fantastic opportunity for a talented Electrical Engineer to be part of an organisation who was chosen as the designer of the Royal Australian Navy's Guided Missile Destroyer (DDG).

Navantia Australia currently has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Guided Missile Destroyer (DDG) Engineering team out of its Garden Island office. As the Engineer, you will be responsible for working with the DDG Sustainment team and provide your expertise and technical knowledge on functional and detailed design related to the electrical and control systems of the naval ship.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  •  Integrate with all areas of the Sustainment Team
  • Works with the different OEMs and OEMs engineering services to deliver the possible required EC documentation
  • Plan, coordinate and participate in the development of the ship’s Electrical and Controls area documentation: impact assessments, drawings, reports, RPRs, NA-RAs, RRPs, Installation Work Instructions, etc.
  • Manage, coordinate and conduct/subcontract Electricity & Control URDEF Engineering or other related investigations
  • Participate in the development of naval ships’ Mission System Specifications in accordance with Seaworthiness N4 and other ship design documentation
  • Verify and validate that any hardware or software system activities, related to Electricity & Control, in response to the provision of engineering services meet the engineering requirements set for the task.
  • Participate in the design coordination meetings with the rest of the Engineering Team members
  • Participate in Review meetings with the Client

 

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Proven skills and experience in providing solutions and naval ship system design, specifically in electrical and control systems
  • Experience working with technical shipbuilding regulation (Classification Societies, ABR’s)
  • Extensive experience working in an Electrical Sustainment environment with the Royal Australian Navy
  •  developing and reviewing technical documentation
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships in all levels of the business and clients
  •  An AGSVA Defence Security Clearance to a minimum of NV1 or be eligible to apply
