Assistant Winemaker

At Mitchelton, our people are our most valuable asset and we all share a passion for the winemaking industry. We are currently looking for an Assistant Winemaker to be part of our winemaking team, to provide a product that exceeds our customers’ expectations, whilst maintaining the Mitchelton brand’s style and ethos.

 

The key duties of this position will include the following:

  • Ensure all winemaking decisions and procedures are efficient and adhere to the company standards and procedures
  • Under the mentorship of the Chief winemaker, monitor compliance in relation to OH&S, quality, management systems and process improvement policies and legislation
  • Supervise receival and evaluation of fruit at intake in accordance with written quality parameters and specifications
  • Check and supervise key cellar and winemaking processes including pressing, clarification, fermentation and filtration
  • Maintain records as required for the purpose of meeting government and corporate requirements
  • Collaborate as part of the winemaking team to plan blends and products to be produced to meet the projections of the sales team
  • Maintain ongoing knowledge of product and styles of winemakers within Australia and overseas

 

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Ability to manage priorities and workload in a busy environment
  • Great communication skills
  • Ability to use EZY Systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Hold a current Victorian RSA
  • Hold a current forklift licence
  • A tertiary degree in Oenology would be looked upon favourably
