The Role

Reporting directly to the Head of Technology, you will enjoy participating and learning, working closely with all team members to discover and implement the right solutions. Daily tasks may include bug fixes, peer code reviews, brainstorming, design elements, and contributing to issue resolution, feature requests, and product updates and enhancements.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for somebody who is passionate about software development and who enjoys working as part of a team across a variety of current and interesting technologies. The team is committed to learning about new ways of doing things and is looking for somebody who is keen to join them on that journey.

Ideally, you will have the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on Java (JEE) application experience (Gradle, JUnit, Tomcat)
  • Solid understanding of software design principles and patterns
  • Front-end development experience (JavaScript or Vue)
  • SQL experience (preferably PostgreSQL)
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
  • Competency with using version control, pull requests, and doing peer code reviews
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical issues plainly
  • Desirable: DevOps experience - building and deploying pipelines (AWS, Chef, Jenkins, Docker)
  • Desirable: NoSQL or Cassandra experience
  • Desirable: JIRA/Atlassian suite experience
  • Desirable: Experience writing unit tests, TDD (Test-driven development)

 

This is a permanent full-time role for a mid to senior-level Engineer wanting to commit long-term.  A competitive salary will be arranged for the successful candidate.
