About Our Site

Our Darwin team provide repair, maintenance and in-service support for the fleet of Armidale Class Patrol Boats. We have multiple locations across Darwin to accommodate our growing diverse team of 95 employees. Our project office is based in the CBD which is in walking distance to public transport, restaurants, schools and offsite parking. An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

About the role

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Design tasks and analyses to ensure that products comply with technical requirements, costs and schedule.
  • Working towards the attainment of “Designer” Signatory status for assigned tasks
  • Planning operations and or processes required to complete allocated design tasks, including estimation of requirements of staffing, material costs and quantities.
  • Complying with and ensure compliance of all relevant Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental legislative requirements, policies, procedures and framework with the intent of preventing or minimising accidental exposures to self, colleagues, visitors and/or the environment.  Adopt a pro-active and preventative approach to OH&S and risk management issues whilst serving as a role model to all employees by demonstrating full support of Thales occupational health, safety and environmental programs.
  • Monitoring quality of work. and ensuring knowledge is shared to assist in raising individual competence

About you

The successful candidate will be a qualified and experienced Mechanical Engineer with a background in naval, maritime or in-service support environments.

Special requirements

Due to the nature of the projects, eligibility to secure a defence clearance is required. As such, the successful candidate does require Austalian citizenship.
