Products include automotive lubricants, transmission fluids, gear oils, hydraulic lubricants, automotive chemicals, specialty products, greases and cooling system products.

An opportunity has arisen at our Head office located in Norwest for the services of an Assistant Accountant with costing exposure. This varied and interesting role is responsible for maintaining records of business transactions including company/subsidiary ledgers to the trial balance stage.

Duties of the position include supporting the finance and accounting function by banking, maintaining and processing accounting transactions such as reconciliations, asset registry and periodic journal processing.

Specific tasks will include operating banking function, undertaking bank and general ledger reconciliations; maintain fixed assets register including depreciation of assets; Undertake end of month and standing journals processing; Reconcile accounts to trial balance.

Ideally the successful candidate will possess:

  • Ability to manage competing priorities, particularly in relation to daily and monthly tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake analysis of detailed tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail and organised
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Qualifications in Accounting
  • CPA qualified or near completion
  • Relevant experience within a commercial environment
  • Good knowledge and skills in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Experience using JD Edwards and Prism software would be advantageous

Overall, we are looking for a person who has the ability to multi-task, works well in a team and can switch quickly and efficiently between a variety of tasks throughout the day. This position will report to the Financial Controller and will have the opportunity to move up into a cost/management accountant role within 12 -14 months.
