Our purpose is to influence and support the safety, development and empowerment of children, young people, adults and communities.

About the Role

CareSouth is currently seeking multiple experienced Disability Support Workers in the Shoalhaven region on a permanent and casual basis.

As a Disability Support Worker, you are responsible for providing positive support for clients within the frame work of a Person Centred Model. Or you may assist people with physical or intellectual disability or people with a history of trauma and neglect in the community by implementing a tailored program specifically designed to support them in meeting their goals. No two days are the same.

Whether you are a mum or dad looking to get back into the workforce, a recent retiree with time to give or a school leaver looking to expand your skills this rewarding role is perfect to fit flexibly around you and your lifestyle whilst making a meaningful impact on people with disabilities lives.

We are looking for people who:

  • Are passionate with a big heart and actively want to see others pursue and achieve their potential, with meaning and purpose.
  • Are innovative ‘out of the box’ thinkers who look for opportunities where others just see barriers.
  • Love to communicate (emotional intelligence, social intelligences, interpersonal intelligence) and have strong local community knowledge.
  • Drive change where the status quo is to be respected but challenged.
  • Computer savvy (we’ll offer you training to reach your potential too)
  • Resilient and dedicated

In order to be successful in this role you will have:

  1. A minimum Certificate III level qualification in Mental Health, Disabilities, Community Services or related field (or a willingness to enrol and obtain a relevant certificate)
  2. Demonstrate an ability to work without direct supervision
  3. Current First Aid Certificate
  4. Experience supporting people with an intellectual disability, learning disability or people with a history of trauma and neglect.
  5. Exhibit the ability to establish a professional working relationship with clients that is supportive, encouraging and challenging.
  6. Ability to handle challenging and adverse situations.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively within complex family dynamics.
  8. Willingness to work a flexible roster, including weekends, evenings and sleepovers.
  9. Have a current driver’s licence and a vehicle with Comprehensive Insurance.
