About the branch

The Regional Services Division is responsible for the service delivery of initiatives, programs and services. On-ground works and services will conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities and improve opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Regional resources will support environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural, regional and urban communities. Service delivery is managed and delivered within the demands of the Divisional Action Plan and the requirements of the Division's state-wide fire and emergency role and in partnership with community and government agencies.

About the role and your responsibilities: 

We are looking for two Field Services Officers to deliver in park services at an area level as directed by the Project Coordinator within the Gariwerd Area Environment and Heritage Team. In these positions you will be accountable for the delivery of field based works funded from the Victorian Government Biodiversity Response Planning (BRP) initiative, and, Weed and Pest on Public Land (WPPL) program.  You will also support the delivery of key strategies of the Grampians (Gariwerd) Park Landscape Conservation Action Plan, with specific focus on fox and feral cat control including poison baiting, trapping, remote camera monitoring, collection of associated data and sampling and maintenance of equipment. 

As the Field Service Officer, you will be accountable for personal performance and demonstrate a strong personal work ethic. In this role you will actively participate in a team environment and ensure that the overall success of the team is considered to be an outcome of individual success. You will have the opportunity to show your enhanced skills by being adaptable and flexible to on the ground service requirements in order to ensure superior park management services are achieved at all times.

To be successful for this role you will need:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Natural Resource Management and/or equivalent experience in a similar field.
  • Experience in pest animal control techniques (preferably fox control) and monitoring (preferably remote cameras).
  • 4x4 experience and or qualification is highly desirable.
  • ACUP (Agricultural Chemical Users Permit) with 1080 endorsement is highly desirable.
