Product Development Engineer


NOV is a global manufacturer of progressing cavity pumps and pump parts and has a wide product range suitable for the pumping of fluids within the waste water, chemical, food, beverage, paper, mining, mineral processing, marine, agricultural and oil and gas sectors.

NOV also supplies rotary lobe pumps, grinders, screens and packaged pump systems, ideally suited for the efficient maceration, screening and pumping of waste water flows.

This position is required to apply mechanical engineering design expertise to new product development, research & development and product sustaining projects from concept to launch whilst complying to cost criteria, timescales and specifications set by the business.

The successful applicant will be joining a close knit engineering team within a global organization with a commitment to the health and wellbeing of its employees as well as providing competitive long term solutions to our business partners and clients.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be the lead mechanical engineer and project manager on assigned projects.
  • Produce or manage the production of all relevant documentation for assigned projects.
  • Work with Commercial to ensure that Design Specifications correctly outline project intentions.
  • Plan project and monitor with the use of MS Project.
  • Use CAD to create or modify 3D models of parts and assemblies to evaluate design proposals.
  • Create or modify models and drawings for components and assemblies.
  • Assemble prototype units of new products.
  • Design, build and monitor testing of product for engineering projects.
  • Create Engineering Test Reports for all testing activities conducted.
  • Address product design issues presented to the team or noticed during daily activities.
  • Provide technical knowledge on engineering challenges.
  • Monitor and manage assigned tasks ensuring priorities are aligned with the department’s requirements.
  • Lead and support FMEA activities as required.
  • Support Production through pre-production activities relating to the launch of new products.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Bachelor or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or closely related subject
  • Minimum 3 years solid mechanical product design experience
  • Minimum 3 years solid product development experience in a similar manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Research and Development engineering initiatives
  • Project Management experience
