Job description:

Alstom's objective is to be the preferred partner for transport solutions. Employee empowerment is crucial to our success and we continue to strengthen our culture through a diverse workforce, promoting entrepreneurial spirit and a fundamental commitment to integrity and ethical business standards and practices.

We have recently been named as the preferred proponent for Western Australia’s $1.6 billion Railcar Program.  As part of the project we will design, manufacture and maintain 246 new railcars needed for METRONET projects and the replacement of the A-series trains.  We will also deliver 6 DMU railcars to replace the five diesel railcars that operate the twice daily Australind service between Perth and Bunbury.

The Railcar Program has been identified as a Strategic Project under the WA Jobs Act 2017, which has additional requirements for local job creation.  With a target of 50 per cent local content for the manufacturing of the new trains, this project will bolster our local manufacturing industry and maximise WA jobs.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Project Planning Leader to join our team.  You will be responsible the management of all quality aspects of the project and ensure all internal process requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities for this Role Include:

  • Conduct end-to-end planning and control activities including planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting for project teams, management and customers using Primavera P6

  • Development and implementation of performance metrics to measure the suitability and health of the project

  • Administer the establishment and maintenance of project Baseline’s and produce internal and external Cost Performance Reports (CPRs) as required

  • Develop Plans and Schedules for projects as well as supporting bids in the development of high level schedules

  • Ensuring the Project Manager has full visibility of all major milestones including the adherence to the plan

  • Identify potential risks that will impact on the cost and late delivery of the program

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Includes:

  • Formal qualifications or equivalent experience in Engineering, Project Planning, and/or Production Control, preferably  in the Rail Systems industry or a related field (Power, Defence or similar)

  • Experienced in the use of related software tools such as Microsoft Project and Primavera

  • Experience in structuring Project Schedules including Work Breakdown Structures, Activities, Milestones and their associated network dependencies (i.e. relationships) for a complex project

  • Collaboration and team working,

This is an exciting role and your opportunity to get involved on a brand new project at the ground level.
