iDareU runs carer hubs for unpaid carers of people with a disability, held mostly on Sunday afternoons on a monthly basis. The hubs are currently located in Croydon and Healesville and, in early 2020, will include Pakenham and Geelong.
We are seeking positive, practical, fun and organised people to run at least three of the four carer hubs per month. This could suit two friends, job sharing the role. The hubs run for three hours and you need to allow time to collect the resources and setup and pack up.
There is always ‘chill-out’ time with a cuppa and the opportunity (not compulsory) for the carers to do some craft work, play games and connect. Sometimes guest speakers will have been organised to speak for 1-2 hours as part of the hub so you would be required to greet them and make sure they have what they need. You will need to be available for five hours (mostly on Sunday afternoons) plus travel time.
You will need to be fit enough to pack and unpack the craft and other resources; be someone who other people feel comfortable talking to; have initiative and a sense of humour; and have a flexible, ‘can do’ attitude.
This would suit unpaid carers, some-one wanting to ease their way back into the workforce and anyone with a passion to help others.
