Hindmarsh has an energetic and personable approach that shines through in our employees, work practices and commitment to the wider community. For over 27 years we have enjoyed a wonderful reputation amongst our residents and the wider community for offering an outstanding retirement lifestyle.

Hindmarsh Retirement operates independent Living Retirement Villages in the Canberra region across three sites with our fourth Marigal Gardens currently under construction

The Role

We currently have casual positions available for Resident Services Assistants to join our team across our villages in Canberra.

Although our residents live independently, having staff in attendance within the village at all times provides peace of mind. Your key responsibility as a Resident Services Assistant will be to respond to emergency calls within the village. This may require you to provide first aid and liaise with emergency services.

This role offers you the opportunity to multitask with a number of core duties, including liaison with residents, some housekeeping and general cleaning of common areas and food service. Duties vary according to the shift allocation, and evening shifts include a sleepover component.

As a casual team member, you may be rostered on to shifts at varying villiages in the region and will often be required to work independently. Rosters for work may include afternoon shifts, evening shifts, sleep-over shifts, weekends and Public Holidays.

Your skills and experience

This is a wonderful opportunity to start your career in retirement living. You do not require any previous experience or qualifications in Aged Care for this role, although if you do have experience working with older or vulnerable people that would be advantageous.

To be successful in this role you will :

  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Have an understanding of the needs of older people
  • Have a current First Aid qualification
  • Have a current Working with Vulnerable People check
  • Be confident to work independently and respond to emergencies
  • Be available for week day sleep over shifts and weekend day shifts

You might have previously worked in hospitality, customer service or security and you are ready for a new challenge. This role is also suitable for students who are currently studying Nursing or a similar course.
