Senior Payroll Officer

About the role

This dynamic role will see you responsible for the end-to-end payroll lifecycle for over 700 employees, ensuring timely and accurate processing for both fortnightly and monthly pay runs across all our sites.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Processing all new starters, including entry into payroll and time and attendance software in a timely manner;
  • Assisting with back pays and termination including the calculation of termination payments;
  • Processing, calculating & tracking employee leave and movements;
  • Preparation of monthly payroll reports and end of year processing and reconciliation;
  • Processing superannuation, payroll tax, PAYG taxes and workers compensation;
  • Providing exceptional customer service to all Payroll related queries;
  • Working closely with the People & Culture team to ensure all employee information is accurate; and
  • Identify and implement areas of opportunity and suggest ways to enhance existing control, promote efficiency and eliminate unnecessary costs.

About you

You will be an experienced and hands on Senior Payroll Officer, with cross functional experience within People & Culture function. You will thrive working in a fast-paced environment, enjoy taking initiative with a ‘roll back’ sleeves attitude to your work.

Additionally, you will have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Payroll Officer, preferably within an FMCG environment;
  • Extensive experience with MicroPay Meridian and a time in attendance system is essential;
  • Intermediate excel skills, including Pivot tables, Vlookup and Indexing;
  • Experience with ESS will be highly regarded;
  • Ability to interpret awards and EAs independently;
  • Sound understanding of payroll legislation across Australia;
  • Ability to adopt a highly agile approach to their work practice;
  • Excellent time management skills and an ability to prioritise; and
  • High level stakeholder engagement and ability to build rapport and credibility.
