• Conveniently located in Richmond

Harris Scarfe is an iconic multi-channel Australian retailer, with a national footprint of 65 stores that is experiencing rapid growth in our already large eCommerce business, as well as across our digital channels.

Our core vision is to “reduce friction” in all aspects of our customer shopping journeys.  Our mission is ultimately to deepen our connections with customers via design thinking and user-centred experiences that set the standard for multi-channel Customer Experience (Cx) excellence in retail.   We’ll do this by focusing on mobile-first designs and easy-to-use experiences, which showcase beautiful designs that engage our Customers.

The UX Designer will have command of user-centred research and design practices.  The role also requires that the individual promote empathy and understanding of customers, while continually pushing boundaries in order to drive the next generation of shopping experiences.

The ideal candidate will be customer obsessed, with an innate curiosity for all things UX/UI and relentlessly high standards– never satisfied with the status quo and always striving to deliver visually engaging experiences.

Key responsibilities:

  • B2C/DTC user-centred design across multi-channel eCommerce, Cx and email marketing applications with a strong results orientation
  • Identify and analyse design problems, make decisions, and generate elegant solutions under tight deadlines in a high volume, fast-paced retail environment
  • Prioritise high volume eCommerce improvements, campaign assets and project-based work independently to meet deadlines, and balance trade-off decisions while maintaining design integrity
  • Ability to translate campaign concepts into channel relevant designs, user flows, wireframes, mock-ups and interactive prototypes, and customise deliverables to specific customer needs
  • Author, document and communicate design ideas and solutions clearly and effectively to multidisciplinary teams through written, visual and verbal means
  • Create and improve upon existing UX patterns and assets, customer journeys and evolve our eCommerce style guides (iconography, typography, colour, space and texture)
  • Design production-ready assets and materials, including emails, logos, iconography, campaign landing/splash pages, templates and web assets as required
  • Understanding of technical constraints and limitations when designing for desktop, mobile, tablets, Android and iOS
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of individuals, be open to feedback and constructive criticism
  • Understanding of HTML5, CSS3 and Javascript
  • Good understanding of design trends, and ability to deliver to set KPIs and conversion targets
  • Take ownership of your work, ask smart questions, and champion new ideas

Experience required:

  • Bachelor degree in Design, Digital Media, Communication Design or a related field
  • 2+ years B2C/DTC retail design experience at an Agency or Client-side
  • Strong design portfolio that includes email, mobile and web asset designs
  • Experience with HCI, DT, UCD, Design, Writing or related field
  • Expertise in standard UX software (ie. Photoshop, Illustrator). Proficiency in Sketch and InVision preferred
  • Previous experience working in an Agile Scrum environment highly regarded

Why work at Harris Scarfe?

  • Our Customers ranked us No.1 for Customer Experience (Cx) in department stores (Roy Morgan, Oct2019)
  • A competitive salary is on offer for the successful candidate
  • We are large enough to offer you career opportunities to further your development, but also small enough to recognise your individual contribution
  • We offer great work-life balance
  • An inclusive culture that celebrates differences and ensures that everyone belongs

If you would like to be a part of a team driven to achieve great results within a supportive and enjoyable environment, then we would love to hear from you.

Harris Scarfe is part of Greenlit Brands, which includes Best&Less, Fantastic, Freedom, OMF, Plush, Postie (NZ) and Snooze, as well as large manufacturing and logistics companies.  We offer a number of benefits to our employees including employee discounts at our various retail brands, select healthcare/gym membership discounts, social club events, career development, ongoing training and attendance at industry events.
