Social Health Manager

What do we do?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) was established to provide a coordinated and integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South East Qld Region. The IUIH is a lead agency working in partnership with key stakeholders to support the effective implementation of the Council of Australian Governments ‘Closing the Gap’ initiatives.

As the Social Heath Manager you will be responsible for leading the delivery of culturally appropriate clinic based rehabilitation and support in the areas of substance misuse, mental health and social and emotional wellbeing to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.

The position will be responsible for:

  • Oversee effective delivery of social and psychological support for clients identified with mental health and drug and alcohol problems in accordance with drug and alcohol case management plans and/or team care arrangements where applicable 
  • Monitor and contribute to the development of practices, outcomes, procedures and protocols within the social health service teams and across the region
  • Collaborate internally and externally to enable integrated, multi-disciplinary service model delivery and effective outcomes for client, families and communities in the service region

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
  • Current Blue Card
  • Current Criminal History Check
  •  Bachelor qualification in relevant field or equivalent experience
