About the opportunity
Reporting to the Group Procurement Manager, the Senior Category Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and management of enterprise wide category, contract and supplier strategies with a key focus on effectively managing risk, driving savings and delivering sustained value to LINX Cargo Care Group. Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare comprehensive category strategies and action plans through the analysis of the group spend, identifying key opportunities to drive value and manage procurement risk.
  • Utilise existing supply knowledge of specific categories to develop, implement, and manage the category strategies, and to support, guide and to provide expert advice to stakeholders with a view to shaping procurement approach across the business.
  • Engage proactively at all levels and communicate both procurement strategies and governance with internal stakeholders (including senior management) around business cost saving and standardisation opportunities identified within the overall category strategies.
  • Manage performance and reporting of key contracts to ensure contracted services are delivered in accordance with agreed terms, and any supplier performance issues are effectively resolved.
  • Drive cost savings and efficiencies across key categories promoting continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Directly negotiate terms and conditions and the award of contracts to selected suppliers.
  • Promote procurement governance across the group through vendor standardisation and the implementation of category agreements with key vendors.

About your experience
You will have demonstrated experience in a similar lead role, with a proven ability to undertake category and procurement activities with strong contract management and commercial experience. You will be passionate about building stakeholder relationships, providing subject matter advice and feedback to managers to ensure our procurement strategy is being delivered efficiently. You will be methodical in executing the development, management and implementation of category strategies with the acumen to drive change.

Skills and experience will include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in procurement, business/commerce, contract management or supply chain fields.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in end to end category analysis and management, with a proven ability to promote and influence decision making within an organisation.
  • Proven business partnering experience, managing and building relationships across all levels of the organisation and stakeholders.
  • Highly developed skillset in data analysis, including working with Excel for data interpretation to develop sound strategies.
  • Solid working knowledge of contract fundamentals and the ability to draft, review, negotiate and manage complex supply and service agreements.
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage competing and urgent priorities from multiple stakeholders across the business, whilst still delivering on the overall procurement strategy.
