Product Lifecycle Design Engineer - Electrical Engineering

Are you a qualified electrical, mechanical or mechatronics engineer with at least 5 years project based design skills in building services, transmission, and other related electronics manufacturing industry?

The role
We are looking for a Project Engineer with qualifications in either electrical, mechanical, electronics or mechatronics engineering with experience in working with internal and external stakeholders delivering design solutions on time and on budget. In this role we are looking for an engineer with project management experience whom understands industrial design and product development from concept design to prototyping using injection moulding. Working with a team of senior project managers you will be responsible for designing electrical components and hardware to meet the customer’s specifications. 

The successful applicant will have the following skills, experience and competencies:

  • Drive all stages of product development lifecycle including concept generation, evaluation, documentation, prototyping, manufacture and installation.
  • Creation and maintenance of accurate 3D models and drawings on CAD tool (preferably PTC Creo)
  • Strong understanding of Design Methodologies, Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA), Risk and Quality assessments.
  • Knowledge of a range of manufacturing processes including injection moulding, metal casting, sheet metal and structural design highly desirable.
  • Experience in the design of electrical components (conductors, insulators, tappat boxes etc) for overhead and underground high voltage transmission 
  • High-quality capabilities in documentation/document control and management
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in both an autonomous and project team environment
  • Experience in using a variety of engineering tools like FEA, AutoCAD, MATLAB, MathCAD, Excel, etc.
  • Exceptional knowledge in product development process
  • Knowledge of using various modelling skills
  • Knowledge in technical writing for writing test plans, reports and product fact sheets
  • Organisational and time management skills
