Laboratory Technician - Flour Milling

An opportunity has become available for a Laboratory Technician to join the Quality team at our Kensington mill. The successful applicant for this permanent full-time position will perform routine testing on flours, wheats and bread premixes against standard testing procedures and specifications, and the recording of the data.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Accurate test baking of products and recording of results
  • Determine if the product is non-conforming or acceptable, and releasing product;
  • Quality Control testing of flour & wheat products, recording results, be able to determine of the product is non-conforming or acceptable, and releasing product;
  • Issuing certificates of analysis;
  • Liaising with other departments on quality related matters, perform quality audits;
  • Raising corrective action requests as required; and
  • Participate in Food & Safety training programs.

 

The successful candidate will possess:

  • At least 3 years experience in Food Manufacturing / Production environment (flour milling experience preferred);
  • Experienced Laboratory Technician with some basic Food Science / Quality Control background will be advantageous;
  • Basic exposure and understanding of laboratory based testing methods and procedures;
  • Ability to work autonomously;
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (in particular Word and Excel);
  • Technical understanding of specifications;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; and
  • SAP knowledge is highly desirable however not essential.
  • Shift work will be required
