About us:

Kyabram Fauna Park (KFP) currently has an exciting vacancy for an Education Coordinator to join our expanding team.

Kyabram Fauna Park has a long-standing reputation for delivering high quality animal science and conservation based educational programs to the schools within the region. The successful applicant will take a lead role in researching, delivering and evaluating KFP’s current educational practices and programs.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Research, provide and evaluate a comprehensive education program aligned to the Victorian Curriculum
  • Develop and evaluate new curriculum-linked sessions and lessons for preschool through to VCE
  • Deliver high standards of visitor interaction in the form of information talks, animal encounters and education events
  • Build partnerships and contacts with kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools and universities
  • Represent KFP at relevant meetings and conferences as directed by the General Manager and to give public talks at various levels promoting the educational and conservation work of the Park
  • Carry out high standards of animal welfare, animal husbandry and monitoring of the animals used in the education program

To be considered for this position you will need to meet the requirements of the Position Description and the following Selection Criteria:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Curriculum and current curriculum developments
  • Interest in and knowledge of Australian fauna along with an interest in environmental education and biodiversity conservation
  • Capacity to develop a range of teaching strategies appropriate to the role of a teacher delivering a zoological and conservation based educational program
  • Ability to foster a learning environment that takes account of the individual needs of the student in a unique educational setting
  • Exemplary values appropriate to the enhancement of student learning and the capacity to deliver engaging learning experiences
  • Well-developed classroom and interpersonal management skills, and experience operating classroom equipment


  • Relevant Teaching Qualification i.e. a Bachelor Degree or equivalent in teaching or a relevant discipline e.g. biology, zoology, conservation, environmental science, science education
  • Experience of teaching at kindergarten, primary and/or secondary school level
  • Current VIT Registration
  • Level 2 First Aid
