The Assistant Accountant will support Latrobe’s Corporate Services functions contributing towards a strong and sustainable core. The Assistant Accountant will be responsible for account reconciliations, financial reporting, payroll, processing of accounts payable payment runs, assistance with managing department budgets and support to corporate services team.

The position is responsible for providing technical advice to support decisions on new asset acquisitions and any maintenance or enhancement requirements to support operational needs for existing assets.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Completion of monthly account reconciliations
  • Oversight of payroll to ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of payroll and completion of all payroll regulatory requirements.
  • Processing of regular payment of creditors.
  • Preparation and lodgement of regulatory returns (i.e. FBT, BAS)
  • Review and testing of technology solutions as they relate to Corporate Services
  • Completion of monthly account reconciliations
  • Preparation and processing of daily banking files
  • Assist with the development and management of Department budgets
  • Support all team members providing backfill assistance to all roles in Corporate Services team as required.

About you, your knowledge and experience

  • Highly effective team member with demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and offer leadership and initiative.
  • Knowledge of legislative, regulatory and standard compliance requirements as they relate to accounting and payroll.
  • Data analytics capability including the ability to produce and interpret performance data related to the corporate service functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and improve the design and implementation effectiveness of end to end process, procedures and policies aligned to strategic objectives.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and standards.
