What are the roles available?

We are seeking 4th Year Pharmacy Students ready to kick start their pharmacy careers!

We require students to work within our Maroochydore pharmacies on weekends and evenings outside of your studies and then develop into our Intern Pharmacists for 2020.

What does an Intern Pharmacist do?

This role is integral to the success of TerryWhite Chemmart.  In order to provide the best quality service to our customers, Intern Pharmacists are trained to provide patient focused care, efficient and accurate provision of medicines and health information to consumers under the supervision of a pharmacist with general registration, and ensure that TerryWhite Chemmart’s standards and procedures as well as legislative and professional requirements are implemented and maintained.

What’s required to be an Intern Pharmacist?

  • A major focus on patient centred care and facilitating optimal patient outcomes
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic team with a broad range of roles and responsibilities
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (or equivalent) completed before commencing as an Intern
  • Provisional Registration as a pharmacist with AHPRA before commencing as an Intern
  • You must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this job

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Dispensary Manager, the Intern Pharmacist is solution focused and works both behind the counter and on the floor to compile medicine orders for patients and facilitate optimal patient outcomes by having meaningful health solution-based discussions with consumers under the supervision of a pharmacist with general registration. Key responsibilities include:

  • Counsel consumers on their medication (both prescription and over-the-counter products) in an up-to-date, evidence-based manner under supervision of a pharmacist with general registration
  • Prepare prescriptions in a timely, efficient and accurate manner under the supervision of a pharmacist with general registration
  • Assist in the provision of Dose Administration Aids under the supervision of a pharmacist with general registration
  • Practice in accordance with legislation and professional guidelines
  • Ensure that prescriptions are accepted for dispensing in a timely way as per pharmacy procedure
  • Practice in accordance with dispensary policy and procedure (i.e. QCPP)
  • Collaborate and maintain relationships with local health professionals
