Who we are
Studio Legal is a Melbourne-based boutique law firm inspired by people who create, innovate and dream big. Since its inception in 2011, we have been providing legal services across a range of practice areas, with a focus on commercial and intellectual property law. We represent a variety of exciting individuals and businesses including artists, designers, events and festivals, fashion labels, hospitality operators, creative agencies and tech companies, ranging from start-ups to multi-national franchises.
We are looking for an experienced commercial lawyer with 5 - 7 years PAE to join our team. This role will see you working on a variety of matters which may include:
- Drafting and advising on a range of commercial contracts including services agreements, IP licence agreements, online terms & conditions and privacy policies;
- Advising on appropriate business structures and setting up new businesses;
- Drafting and advising on shareholders, unitholders, partnership and joint venture agreements;
- Assisting with sale of shares, assets and businesses; and
- Advising on and handling commercial disputes.
There is a focus on IP across many of the matters we handle, so a working understanding of IP legal issues in commercial transactions is essential for this role. Experience in employment law, privacy law and retail leasing will also be highly regarded, but is not essential.
This is a full time role, however we will consider part time for the right applicant and are open to flexible working arrangements.
You must have a personable and professional nature, be passionate about practising law and possess a ‘can-do’ attitude. You will love working with creatives and entrepreneurs, enjoy running your own matters and being hands on with your clients. You will have established private practice experience and be a self-starter, able to manage your time effectively and work confidently with minimal supervision. Your strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills and organisational skills will be a key asset in this role.
What we offer
Studio Legal has a unique culture that separates us from most law firms. You can leave your corporate attire at home and enjoy working in a relaxed office environment and becoming part of our close-knit team. Located on Chapel Street in Windsor's vibrant bar and restaurant hub, you will be perfectly positioned to go straight from your desk to dinner (or a cheeky after work drink), and enjoy regular social events with your team.
Your continuing development as a lawyer will be nurtured and you will be encouraged to strengthen your existing commercial skill set, whilst also building upon your knowledge in new areas of practice that are of interest to you.
