Head of Divisional Controls, Retail

This is an outstanding opportunity to join one of Australia’s major Banking groups in a senior strategic risk role within their Retail business.  The position currently reports to the General Manager, Divisional Controls and the successful candidate will bring outstanding knowledge of risk management and compliance disciplines, methodology frameworks combined with experience in leading high performing teams.

The business is dynamic and is faced with Regulatory and Technology changes, giving the role a great opportunity to build core capability and uplift the function, while collaborating across the organisation at a senior level. 

Specifically, your responsibilities will include:
  • Operational risk and regulatory obligation identification, impact assessment and change within the Division, and advising business leaders on such
  • Managing senior stakeholders to implement the risk and compliance framework, and improve business processes, and working with the business to engage them in the process
  • Risk profiling: assisting to identify key risks and design of indicators to monitor, input into Divisional Risk Setting Statements as relevant
  • Designing controls: assisting to identify the right key controls to mitigate key risks and obligations applicable to the business
  • Providing guidance on risk and control items, and compliance plans in consultation with risk partners
  • Providing business specific input and context to: Risk deep dive reviews, Internal Audit reviews, Assurance reports and Action plans for ineffective operational controls
  • Assisting in regulatory responses and regulatory engagement matters
  • Leadership responsibilities including supporting competency and training of direct reports
To be a success in the role, you have significant exposure and risk management experience preferably from a Big 4 consulting or a large Financial Services organisation.   Having provided compliance and risk assurance support to a retail banking business will be looked upon very favourably.
