Joondalup Health Campus (JHC) in Western Australia is searching for experienced doctors to provide after-hours support to the hospital.

About Joondalup Health Campus (JHC)

With 722 beds, JHC is the largest healthcare facility in Perth's northern suburbs, providing 24-hour care.

Operated by Ramsay Health Care and treating both public and private patients, JHC provides comprehensive acute medical care to the community within Perth's rapidly expanding northern corridor. In addition to acute medical and surgical hospital services include 24/7 anaesthetics, mental health, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services with a 9 bed ICU, 10 bed CCU and 12 Operating theatres.

Located on the coast just 25 kilometres north of Perth's CBD, the hospital is extremely well-situated and its management supports and encourages medical staff to achieve work-life balance, while actively supporting their professional development. 

About You:

This position provides and promotes high quality and patient centred care to all patients within Joondalup Health Campus outside of business hours in conjunction with specialty teams, and under the supervision of consultant medical staff; works under the supervision and within a multi-disciplinary team to review the medical needs of the patients; assists with teaching and support to Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) and Interns.

The position will provide support and supervision of junior medical staff and attend hospital medical emergencies after hours throughout the hospital.  Specialist support is available from consultants within the hospital and on call.

This position is for experienced Registrars or Health Service Medical Practitioners to work after hours. Rosters can be tailored to the successful applicant(s) preferences.                      

Salary range $200,786.72 - $222,631.41 pro rata per annum FTE (inclusive of allowances and super).

Practitioners will be eligible for an education grant up to $5000.00 pro-rata per annum.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registered as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Authority (Medical Board).
  • A minimum 4 years' experience working as a medical practitioner.
  • Demonstrated clinical and procedural experience as a registered medical practitioner for a minimum of 12 months in a hospital setting in Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America, Canada, Ireland or the United Kingdom.
  • Demonstrated clinical and procedural experience sufficient to undertake the safe care of patients outside of normal business hours, with experience in a variety of disciplines including medical, surgical and/or critical care.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, their families and staff at all levels.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills to provide safe, timely patient centered care.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and review their clinical effectiveness, note their limitations and put in place strategies to ensure safe patient care.
  • Demonstrated participation in continuing medical education activities including regular performance reviews to maintain and upgrade knowledge & skills

Desirable Criteria:

  • Advanced Life Support 2 or similar competency.
  • Experience with medical Emergency Teams (MET).
