Overview / Responsibilities

Join our collaborative team, working side by side with a global specialist chemicals company on a new and innovative project in the growing Lithium resources market to design, engineer and construct a world class processing facility. We have a diverse range of opportunities within our Perth office and further positions in the South West.

The greenfield project targeted to go into production in 2020 will produce Lithium Hydroxide Monohydrate from a 2 train processing plant with a forecasted 60,000 per annum (Tpa) output. Further expansion plans into 2025 will see a total production of 100,000 tonnes per annum. The plant is to be constructed at the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area approximately 160 km south of Perth, Western Australia and 17 km north-east of the thriving regional centre of Bunbury.

 

Position Specifics and Deliverables

  • Administer the project supply chain function in the establishment and ongoing management of subcontracts, including:

    • Applying the contracting strategy

    • Administration of procurement phase including request for quotation, bid evaluation, compilation of contracts, contract execution, issue of purchase order.

  • Provide support to the line manager for all legal and contractual matters in relation to the head-contract and/or subcontracts, including:

    • Support the ongoing maintenance and application of key contract templates (including supply contracts, construction contracts etc)

    • Support in administration of variations including amendment of contract terms

  • Administer all commercial aspects of the head-contract and/or subcontracts, including:

    • Contractual correspondence and associated registers, tracking, progress claims

    • Change management including contract notices, variations, disputes

    • Support in cost control, financial reporting and forecasting (working cross functionally with the project controls and construction teams) 

    • Administration of insurance, bonds, guarantees

    • Administer the KPI regime

    • Administer delegation of authority for all commercial activities
    • Ongoing administration and refinement of the contract administration systems, registers, procedures
    • Administer contract close-out
  • Administer the commercial risk and opportunities for the head-contract and/or subcontracts, including:
    • Maintain risk registers and generate risk reports
  • Administer the insurance programme for the head-contract and/or subcontracts
  • Administer tax matters with internal tax advisors in relation to the head-contract and/or subcontracts
  • Administer status reporting of contractual matters
  • Administer key Wood commercial and corporate policies (such as code of business conduct, supply chain policies, commercial policies)
  • Any other commercial tasks as directed by the line manager or functional manager

 

Skills / Qualifications

  • Reasonable level of commercial and contractual awareness, in particular with EPCM or EPC contract delivery models

  • 5-10 years of commercial experience in industrial construction projects (mining or oil & gas) for an engineering or construction company

  • Experience in working within a commercial team

  • Reasonable contract negotiation skills

  • An ability to listen and identify key issues and to communicate complex information clearly

  • General understanding and awareness of legislative obligations relating to contracts administration and management

  • Able to read, understand and apply contractual terms, conditions and clauses.

  • General understanding of project accounting reporting requirements and variance analysis

  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision to set up processes and monitor own work achievements against agreed objectives

  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (in particular, Excel)
