Safety Officer

An exciting  safety role on even time roster of 7/7 days, just two hours north of Perth

Tronox is a fully integrated titanium minerals producer and pigment manufacturer. Across our Australian operations, we extract and process rich mineral sands into a range of valuable products including ilmenite, zircon, rutile and titanium dioxide pigment which are then exported to international markets.

 

Our sites are part of the global operations of Tronox Limited, the world’s leading integrated manufacturer of titanium dioxide.

 

About the Role

Our Cooljarloo mine site is located near Cataby, 190km north of the CBD. Employees for this position stay in our new camp based accommodation nearby whilst rostered on. 

 

The role is on a seven (7) day on, seven (7) day off drive in – drive out roster where you will be able to drive home each week.

Reporting to the Safety Health & Environment Leader, the Safety Officer will be responsible for contributing to and implementing the site Safety & Health program to ensure that we continually strive towards a workplace that is injury free and fully compliant with relevant government legislation as far as is practicable.

 

Duties & responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:-

To assist in creating safe operation and ensure compliance with all applicable Safety, Health, and Process Safety (where applicable) requirements as per Tronox policies and procedures;

Actively participate and recommend improvements in onsite activities such as planned Inspections, behavioural observations and toolbox meetings across site. Maintain the site safety notice boards and keep information up to date;

Provide immediate health care to site based personnel and assist in subsequent injury management such as the return to work process;

Conduct regular site evacuation drills, and provide feedback as well as any recommendations for improvement;

Assist with health and hygiene monitoring including dust and noise;

Assist in the development and maintenance of all site registers that are required by regulatory compliance and the Corporate Safety Standards including emergency response plans including hazardous substances register and approval system;

Assist with contractor management on site;

Conduct inspections of relevant site safety equipment and assist with audits, inspections and technical reports, participating in incident investigations when required;

Undertake FFW monitoring and testing in accordance with the sites schedule.

 

About You

Knowledge of safety systems and processes

Knowledge and application of OSH ‘best practices’

Valid Driver’s licence Class ‘C’

Incident investigation skills

Cert IV minimum in a safety related field or pursuing qualification

Relevant high risk licences would be desirable

Preferably Cert IV Pre hospital care (Ambulance) qualification as a minimum

Preferably Cert 3 Mines Rescue or equivalent experience

Trade/technical background and mining experience desirable
