About the Role

This role is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced hands-on HRBP to partner with a leading financial services firm of 120 employees in fixed income to deliver business aligned, value adding programs and solutions across range of HR areas including: talent management, performance, remuneration, learning and development, engagement, culture and employee relations. You will be proactive in supporting the Chief HR Officer across strategic and operational initiatives, partnering leaders and staff to deliver commercial and pragmatic HR programs and solutions.

This role also has responsibility for advising, coaching and developing managers, leaders and staff nationally on various people management and development matters, building internal capability in these areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner the business to roll out the HR agenda at both a strategic and operational level to achieve talent, performance, capability and culture goals
  • Coach, advise and develop people and business leaders in all aspects of the employee lifecycle to build their skills to confidently attract, engage, develop, manage and retain talent, including managing any performance and conduct issues efficiently and effectively
  • Provide advice, training and guidance on policies, procedures, legislation and practices to internal stakeholders
  • Lead the annual cycle of performance and remuneration reviews
  • Deliver an excellent and consistent service to the business, identifying areas for improvement in HR and associated processes, policies, practices, programs
  • Lead, manage or support various HR projects and initiatives covering:
    • Workforce Planning
    • Talent Management
    • Performance Planning and Development
    • Learning & Development
    • Succession Planning
    • Policy review and development
    • Remuneration and Benefits
    • Recognition and Awards
    • Risk management
    • Engagement & Culture
    • Organisational Change
  • Ensure any and all change associated with project implementation/integration is well scoped and implemented, facilitating the successful and seamless transition of staff through any changes
  • Complete monthly and ad-hoc reports associated with scope of work
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes and topics related to employment, mitigating legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Support and mentor HR Coordinator and act as their back up when they are on leave

Skills and experience

  • 5-8 years HR generalist experience in a dynamic environment where you had experience across the breadth of HR functions and matters  
  • Degree level qualification in HR or relevant business area, a minimum
  • Solid and proven hands-on experience developing and delivering HR practices, programs, and solutions across the employee lifecycle in partnership with the business
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on coaching and developing others
  • Strong communication, engagement, relationship management and influencing skills
  • Expertise in employment law as well as WHS legislation and practices
  • Experience with data, analytics and reporting
  • High level of professional integrity; able to build trust and credibility with others quickly
  • High level of personal accountability for results and delivery, able to meet deadlines effectively and efficiently
  • Commercially minded assessing value of HR decisions, impact and delivery
  • Ability to handle high pressure situations in a grounded, calm and efficient manner
  • Ability to work autonomously, confidently and effectively in a small team and organization
  • Solid experience managing annual performance and remuneration reviews
  • Self-motivated to deliver your best work and go the extra mile in a timely and effective way
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy, able to juggle many things at once with accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness (applies a disciplined and organized approach to work)
  • A continuous improvement mindset along with a collaborative and team focused approach
  • Energetic with a positive “can do” attitude, mature and grounded in operating style
  • Generates ideas for improvement where it fits and contributes to HR strategy development and discussions; someone who gets involved
