People and Culture Lead

At the BRG we curate and sell experiences that shift the way people experience life. The Big Red Group (BRG) is a rapidly scaling platform for ecommerce marketplaces, operating out of our Sydney CBD HQ we are now the worlds 3rd largest experiential marketplace and growing everyday. Our team are a driven talented group of martech professionals. We are now home to 3 consumer facing brands (RedBalloon, Adrenaline, Lime&Tonic) who work alongside our B2B businesses as we enrich the lives our customers and clients.

Our commitment is that you will grow everyday, through the people & leaders you work with and the challenging work you do. We are not only a great place to work, but a place to do your greatest work.

This is a rare opportunity to come and work through a business transformation as the People & Culture Manager in a P & C team. Working into a strategic People and Culture Director who is passionate about developing high performing engaged teams in purpose driven businesses, you will need to be both a people person and business leader, understanding that neither thrives without the other in harmony.

This new role will see you own the end to end employee experience and how we shift our teams experience at work, its a playground for new ideas. As we scale and grow through acquisitions, our days are never the same so you will need to come with a passion for adaptation. You will understand ecommerce and its value drivers to build the respect of our management team, they will be your peers and stakeholders everyday.

What is exciting about this role?

  • You will have the opportunity to own the employee experience and position the organisation as a great place to work in the marketplace, we have an amazing story that you will bring to life through social media and advocacy
  • We encourage new ideas, curiosity and challenging the norm, our team expect different
  • We do things right but we also do the right things
  • You will get to own the redesign and delivery of core processes across the employee life cycle i.e. performance management, remuneration and benefits, employee relations, onboarding etc; including implementing a scalable HRIS to modernise and uplift the function
  • Partner closely and directly with the business around key people matters and culture drivers
  • Work with an organisation who will be growing exponentially and want you to develop with them on that journey

You will love this opportunity if you:

  • Are experienced in operating across all facets of HR at a mid level and can confidently partner with leaders around difficult issues especially performance, change and growth
  • Prefer to work in a non-corporate, fast paced environment and understand the nuances of working in a scale-up / smaller organisation
  • Love doing true generalist end to end HR which a smaller organisation allows ie. diagnose, design and deliver your own ideas – this does mean you will have to be 100% happy to be hands on in delivering BAU and Project work at the same time
  • Like working for a P&C leader who will back and develop you and let you run with your ideas
  • Believe that a policy doesn’t need to be longer than 2 pages – and can usually be removed altogether once the culture is right
  • Are passionate about employer brand, executing a full EVP relaunch will be your  first project, growing content and active engaged followers across our platforms
  • Love recruitment - you will be actively hiring at all times
  • You understand that you need to be in the detail, this is an operational role so you need to be happy onboarding new starters, decorating the office for christmas, supporting payroll and employee paperwork as well as the career defining moments you could create
  • Are passionate about community engagement - you will play a lead role in our 1% commitment
  • Are hungry for the opportunity to take a P&C function which has great foundations in place but has an opportunity to become more sophisticated, efficient and scalable – and the work and stakeholder management that it requires doesn’t daunt you!
  • You have a high ownership mentality and the ability to take responsibility for goals and outcomes #ownit
  • You would be proud to work for and grow an iconic australian retailer that is investing in the future

To be considered, you will likely have been a standalone HR professional in a startup, scaleup, small business or perhaps have worked in a larger organisation and are wanting to now own the employee experience somewhere more agile where you can try out your ideas. This role can be delivered across 4 days a week or a similar flexible arrangement, let us know what works for you to deliver your best work as the best version of yourself.
