Planning & Performance Coordinator

We are looking for an experienced Planning & Performance Coordinator to facilitate rail activities based at our head office in Altona.

To be successful, you must be available to assist the National Service Delivery Manager to ensure the safe, efficient and timely operations of the SCT & SBR rail services in meeting the expectations of customers, the business and the overall profitability of the business.    Additionally, the role will work with the Crewing Coordinator to ensure the efficiency of the SCT / SBR rail operations.

Reporting to the National Service Delivery and Improvements Manager - Rail, the responsibilities include:

·Comply with the reasonable directions of the Chief Operating Officer – Rail and the National Service Delivery Manager

·Assist with the management of relevant accreditation, compliance, safety and rail systems, processes and practices

·Liaise with track authorities and other rail operators in a professional manner

  • Ensure a safe workplace culture and environment free from discrimination, harassment and bullying
  • Assist and encourage open and honest communication together with clear communication of the requirements of accreditation, compliance, safety and rail system processes and practices
  • Assist with the management of the efficient and effective communication of relevant safety information, including legislative changes that may affect operational safety
  • Assist with managing the reporting of notifiable incidents to the relevant authorities
  • Participate in the investigation of notifiable incidents (where appropriate)
  • Promote the continued improvement of the safety culture
  • Participate in contractor / supplier / regulatory meetings (where appropriate)
  • Assist the National Service Delivery manager to identify rail operation improvement initiatives; develop project plans and timelines for achievement of rail operation changes
  • Assist the National Maintenance Manager to ensure that locomotives and wagons are available for servicing and repairs and plan accordingly.
  • Plan and coordinate locomotives to service plans.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for all train operations including out of course running and recovery plans.  Internal stakeholders include but are not limited to Branches and Demand Planning Manager.  External stakeholders include but are not limited to Track authorities and other operators.
  • Manage rolling stock demands and requirements in conjunction with the Demand Planning Manager.
  • Liaise with the SCT Train Operations Control Centre on a day to day basis to ensure efficient train running.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate: -

  • At least 5 years operational experience, preferably within the rail, transport or aircraft industries working knowledge of federal / state legislation relating to: work health & safety, environment, rail, heavy vehicle, equal opportunity, workplace bullying, and worker’s compensation
  • Strong commitment and experience with Rail Safety and Compliance
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities
  • Proven experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of compliance strategies
  • Excellent understanding and application of change management with the ability to effectively implement and manage change
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to encourage team work and work closely with staff to achieve shared outcomes
  • Comprehensive computer literacy
  • The ability to work as a team member
  • A formal qualification in Transport & Logistics would be advantageous
  • Experience in fatigue management would be advantageous

The successful applicant will also be required to undertake:

  • Track Awareness certification
  • Cat 3 Pre-Employment Medical Assessment
  • AFP background check
