An opportunity presents for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join the Lovisa Finance team.

Reporting to the Financial Controller and supporting the wider finance team, this position will play a pivotal role in the summary of financial reporting, monthly reconciliation of balance sheet and general ledger, preparation of BAS statements and adhering to compliance and accounting standards

Your duties and responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Summarise current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, cash flow, profit and loss statement, and other reports
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation statements for the company’s all bank accounts
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information
  • Reconciling general ledger at month end
  • Balance sheet reconciliation
  • Prepare spreadsheets for board of directors
  • Develop budgetary & accounting policies
  • Assisting in preparation of PAYG, FBT and GST for the business
  • Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS) and review of business performance
  • Manage payroll and superannuation
  • Assist Senior Accountant with year-end procedures
  • Business support for taxation preparation and compliance
  • Research and provide taxation advice on business related matters
  • Assist senior management to comply with rules & regulations
  • Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions

To be considered for the role: 

  • A relevant Finance Degree
  • The ability to respond to and prioritise competing and often urgent requests in a calm and efficient manner while also maintaining high work standards and accuracy
  • Proven ability to plan, organise and deliver results on time in a fast past environment
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills essential
  • Proven ability to take initiative, solve problems and be resourceful
  • An understanding of accounting principles and best practice finance systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • A capacity and desire to support peers in the wider team
  • Demonstrated understanding of Customer experience and ability to build productive relationships with both internal and external Customers
  • Proven ability to thrive in a busy, hands on environment and maintain a positive, can do attitude
  • Demonstrate effective levels of data reconciliation skills and process improvement
