Transport for NSW is delivering a once-in-a-century investment in new infrastructure and services, including Sydney Metro. As a NSW Government statutory authority, Sydney Metro has been tasked with developing, delivering and operating Sydney’s new world-class metro railway system.  Metro Trains are at the centre of the solution.

The first line of this new fully automated railway opened earlier this year. By 2024 Sydney Metro will have delivered 31 metro stations and more than 66km of metro rail. Planning is also underway for future metro lines which will shape the way Australia’s largest city travels, making Sydney Metro one of the most iconic public transport projects in the nation’s history.

The opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Director Engineering to join Sydney Metro’s Engineering team.  Reporting to the  Associate Executive Director Engineering. The role will lead the lead and manage a professional team within one of Sydney Metro’s engineering disciplines providing engineering expertise, assurance and advice to ensure Sydney Metro is an intelligent client that delivers great outcome through appropriate intelligent engineering compliance.
The role will manage key integration and engineering risks, and ensures the solution meets all customer needs and business requirements within scope, quality, safety assurance, time and cost constraints, as well as regulatory and accreditation requirements

About you 


You are a proven professional, with qualifications in Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution (Chartered Professional Engineer or equivalent).

You will have extensive experience in providing technical involvement with design, engineering assurance of rail systems such as signalling, controls and communication systems.
Strong understanding of the legislation, policy, business processes and practices involved in planning for and delivering major rail projects.
Demonstrated experience with and understanding of engineering management processes and practices that fulfil Asset Standards Authority Authorised Engineering Organisation requirements.
Experience providing senior level technical advice and problem solving across a arrange of engineering sub-disciplines and their interfaces.
Demonstrated experience in the leadership and management of engineering and design experts and delivery of technical outcomes in a complex project delivery environment.
Experience in delivering value for money engineering outcomes.
Previous experience working on Metro projects and rail systems delivery is a distinct advantage.
The role is identified as a Rail Safety Worker (RSW).
