Strategy Consultant

About the opportunity:

Due to an internal promotion, as a Strategy Consultant, you will be responsible for managing components of the end-to-end strategic planning process across both the Australia and NZ portfolio. Along with internal colleagues from the Health Insurance, Aged Care and Health Services business units, you will develop organic and inorganic strategic opportunities to build Bupa’s existing and future assets. Join a team of six who are collaborative, goal driven, helpful and super smart!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to, and leading components of the A&NZ growth strategy and the strategic planning process.
  • Financial and non-financial analysis across a broad range of topics to support the annual strategic planning process and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with the delivery of the Bupa Australia and New Zealand annual operating plan, including tracking against strategic milestones.
  • Analyse external market forces including competitor reviews to provide insight into the implications of competitor activity and market forces on strategic objectives.
  • Prepare papers and presentations for strategic events in conjunction with business owners. Here you will challenge and provide insights as to cohesive fit with strategic direction.
  • Mergers & acquisitions is not the main focus of this role but opportunities to consider inorganic growth opportunities could present.
  • Partner with the Data and Insights team to collect data, formulate insights, develop robust strategies and assist with rational decision making.

Your background:

  • Demonstrated experience in a top-tier global strategy consulting firm.
  • Alternatively, experience as a Strategy Analyst/ Consultant/ Manager within a large corporate of similar scale and complexity as Bupa is welcomed where you have driven/assisted with business strategy and business development.
  • Highly developed conceptual reasoning capabilities, analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to break down and frame strategic problems.
  • Passion for creative growth strategy, innovation and excellent business insight.
  • Ownership and drive to deliver outcomes with and through cross functional, cross market teams.
  • Experience working in a changing, often ambiguous environment, with an ability to make prompt, clear decisions which may involve tough choices or considered risks.
  • Focus on stakeholder engagement and relationship building through a clearly defined engagement process, and ensuring strategic initiatives are implemented.
  • A background in the health care/ aged care/ insurance sectors are not mandatory but would be highly regarded!
