About the opportunity

Our STEM Content Creator will be working as an integral member of a collaborative content team. Reporting to the Manager, STEM Content, you will be responsible for planning, developing and supporting the production of relevant and engaging STEM content (digital, editorial, audio, visual and/or interactive) that informs, inspires, and involves Western Australian audiences in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with colleagues across Scitech as a part of cross-functional teams.
  • Develop content and content plans – focusing on a range of content experiences for the audience (digital, editorial, visual, audio, graphic, interactive), in line with Scitech’s strategy and customer base.
  • Participate in research and ideation to identify new products and services for our customers and stakeholders.
  • Develop, schedule, publish and amplify STEM content across Scitech’s products and services including our media platform Particle WA.
  • Write, co-ordinate, edit and proof STEM content for our products and services, including fact checking for accuracy.
  • Apply and implement Scitech’s brand guidelines, editorial standards and visual framework across content.
  • Ensure industry best-practices are adhered to, including content delivery standards, usability and compliance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility guidelines.
  • analysing and reporting on online activity and using insights to make recommendations on how to target audiences more effectively.

Skills and experience

To be considered for this vacancy, you will have the following essential skills and experience;

  • Relevant qualifications in Science, Communications or Digital Media
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in science communication, digital media communication, content production or writing/editing in an editorial environment.
  • Excellent communication and editorial skills, including the ability to represent our tone of voice across a variety of formats and to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in planning and developing content and managing content through a content management system (CMS).
  • A strategic, creative and collaborative approach to content development.
