Protection and Control Technician job based in Melbourne working on the electrical networks

Your new company

You will be working for one of the industry leaders when it comes to energy. They specialise in the distribution and supply of electricity here in Victoria with a well-known presence in the industry. This successful organisation is based in Melbourne CBD and the successful applicant will be working across a considerable part of Melbourne metropolitan region. This company has a large portfolio of work and an endless pipeline of projects for the future.

Your new role

You will be responsible for the testing of high voltage protection systems and substations. Testing reports will include protection relay testing, HV primary and secondary injection testing, HV cable testing, and PD Tan Delta testing. A key part of the role will consist of performing maintenance testing, operating and commissioning of Electrical Plant and ensure the correct use of test equipment. You will need to prepare commissioning and testing documentation while providing detailed technical reports on the completion of works.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for the position you will have;

  • Advanced diploma of ESI power systems/Certificate of Technology (Electrical)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in testing services of electrical plant
  • Current VESI training
  • Familiar with omicron test equipment
  • Experience in relay testing, VT and CT testing
  • Fundamental understanding of HV protection schemes and the proven ability to test these schemes
