Verification and Validation (V&V) Certification and Assurance

The Role:

In 2016, Navantia Australia (NAUS) was awarded the Auxiliary Oiler Replenishment (AOR) sustainment contract to build Her Majesty’s Australian Ship (HMAS) Supply and HMAS Stalwart, which is due to commence service with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) from mid-2020 and will remain in service for a 30 year Life of Type (LOT). NAUS will be responsible for the sustainment of both ships along with Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), and form part of the AOR System Program Office (AORSPO). 

NAUS currently has an exciting opportunity for a Verification and Validation (V&V), Certification and Assurance professional to join the team out of its Garden Island (GI) office. You will be responsible for conducting V&V activities and managing all certification for the AOR platforms.

 

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Participate in the conduct of Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs) and Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs)
  • Verify that the physical installation resulting from Engineering Changes (ECs) matches the design documentation and intent of the Request for Problem Resolution (RPR) for that change
  • Update existing and / or obtain new certification for the AOR platforms.

 

As the ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or related discipline
  • Sound knowledge of Defence certification entities (such as Lloyds, Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), Maritime Pollution (MARPOL) and International Maritime Organisation (IMO)
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering processes / procedures
  • Understanding of the processes and responsibilities for PCA and FCA
  • Knowledge in the Naval EC Process
  • Sound understanding of Seaworthiness
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively, but can also operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening and decision making skills.
  • Australian Citizenship holding or eligible for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Defence Security Clearance to a minimum of Baseline.
