We offer an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory & Technical Support Scientist, Biomedicine ($75,723 - $82,015) to join our world-leading institution at James Cook University (JCU). A fixed term appointment, this position is based at our state-of-the-art facilities at JCU Townsville.
What can you accomplish in the Role
Working autonomously with broad direction from the Manager, Laboratory and Technical Support and academic staff you will provide in-depth theoretical and technical knowledge, and technical support in the delivery of content in the field of microbiology and immunology, encompassing clinical bacteriology, mycology, virology, serology and parasitology.
Maintaining microbiological culture and specimen collections, including assisting with the procurement of various patient samples and organism cultures you will ensure the viability of the collections and that teaching and research outcomes are achievable.
What will you bring to the Role
As someone with demonstrated experience as a Laboratory Technician in an appropriate field you will have a proven expertise in cellular immunology techniques, ELISA preparation and cell culture techniques; as well as substantial knowledge of clinical microbiology and immunology procedures with a proven ability to culture a diverse range of organisms
Your comprehensive understanding of WHS legislation and how it applies in a laboratory environment will see you succeed in this interesting and varied role.
