Child Welfare Assessors - contractors

Introduction

Assessments Australia (a MAX Solutions company) has secured an increased volume of work in South Australia with the Department for Child Protection and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs).

Accordingly, we require more qualified Social Workers or Psychologists to join our team of contractors performing Relative Kinship Care Assessments (RKCAs), Specific Child Only Assessments (SCOs), Step By Step Assessments (SBSs) and Psychological assessments.

We strongly encourage candidates who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander with experience autonomously conducting complex, trauma informed assessments of children in Out of Home Care (OoHC) or under Child Protection (CP) orders to apply.

The Opportunity

As a contractor, you may be required to conduct RKCAs and/or SCOs and/or SBSs and/or Psychological assessments.

These roles are casual and well suited as part of your broader professional activities or where you are seeking greater flexibility.

We require people who can accept multiple referrals for assessments at one time (i.e. available multiple days/week to conduct assessments within our required time frames) and can commit to conducting at least 2 assessments per month.

Assessments are typically conducted at the clients' homes and the reports are completed in the comfort of your own home/office, apart from the Psychological assessments which can only be conducted by Psychologists who are in private practice and have an office which is not in their own home.

We require a number of Assessors located anywhere in South Australia who are willing to travel to rural areas to conduct assessments (compensation available for related costs).

Training and accreditation in the assessment tools will be provided.  An induction, ongoing professional development and support will also be provided.

About You

  • Qualified Social Workers eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) OR Psychologists with current AHPRA General Registration
  • Minimum 3 years of experience autonomously conducting complex, trauma informed assessments of children in OoHC or under CP orders to be considered suitable for conducting RKCAs, SCOs and SBSs
  • Psychologists MUST have completed a Master of Psychology and be in private practice with their own office which is not in their own home to conduct the Psychological assessments + have a minimum of 1 year experience in conducting trauma related assessments of children, writing reports for courts and attending courts as needed
  • A sound understanding of the various SA Child Welfare legislation and standards, best practice and current research regarding trauma informed assessments
  • Strong assessment skills (critical thinking, gathering / analysing / synthesising information)
  • Strong face-to-face interviewing skills
  • Strong report writing skills (quality and efficiency)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Step By Step (SBS) 2016 accreditation is desirable but not essential
  • Experience in working with indigenous and CALD communities is desirable but not essential

At MAX, we don't just integrate diversity, we value it – in the backgrounds, ideas, work styles and perspectives of our people. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and strongly encourage People with Disability, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people, Mature Aged Workers and people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds to apply.

Please submit your application online.  If you require an adjustment to the recruitment process for reasons of equal opportunity, please call a member of our Recruitment Team on 07 3727 1306 or email max.recruit@maxsolutions.com.au before you submit your application.
