Ranger

A great opportunity has arisen for an energetic and self-motivated individual to take on the position of Ranger for a period up to 12 months. This role will require you to respond to a range of compliance issues including serious offences under relevant legislation. You will have a proven track record within a regulatory environment, with the ability to gather evidence, complete investigation reports and take appropriate enforcement action.

Working with a small team in a mobile role that sees you enforce and regulate compliance for areas relating to animal control, noise complaints, illegal camping, beach vehicle use, abandoned vehicles, overgrown land, illegal dumping and public reserves.

Daily interaction with the public will require strong interpersonal and customer service skills; and a demonstrated ability to manage demanding situations.
The ordinary hours of work are 8.5 hours per day with the weekly work pattern determined as operationally required within a 7 day span of operation.

  • An attractive base salary ranging from $1,214.37 per week with competency based increments up to $1,425.71 per week, plus 9.5% super.

To be successful in this role you will have: 
  • Experience in the humane care of animals and effective animal handling techniques including the capture of livestock, cats and aggressive or dangerous dogs.
  • Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or relevant field.
  • Competence in the interpretation and application of various legislation.
  • Experience in the gathering of evidence, effective interviewing and statement taking abilities and the preparation of a range of reports including investigation reports and briefs of evidence.
  • Current unrestricted NSW Drivers Licence.

Where it's located:
This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
