Your Opportunity

Mission Australia Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Service (MARRTS) is a 40-bed facility for alcohol and other drugs and accepts referrals for men and women over 18 years old. We provide support, treatment and care options for clients and their families affected by alcohol and other drugs.

The SoberingUp Shelter provides overnight accommodation to those under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, who have been delivered to the service by NT Police or Night Patrol.

We are looking for a Maintenance and Cleaning Officer to work 38 hours per week on a contract until June 2020, assisting the smooth running of these services by maintaining the facility, machinery and grounds.

Some of the responsibilities include:

  • Daily requirements pertaining to facility, grounds and machinery cleaning and maintenance
  • Ensuring WH&S and all relevant legislation compliance, including audits and testing
  • Development and management of cleaning and maintenance schedules
  • Assistance with the design and facilitation of client-focused programs to develop skills and employment opportunities

 

Requirements for Success

Offering a background in cleaning and/or building maintenance, our successful candidate will have a friendly, positive attitude and a commitment to the ongoing support of these services. Additional experiences and skills will include:

  • Solid understanding of, and experience in, general servicing and upkeep of equipment, machinery and grounds
  • Knowledge of WH&S procedures and ability to conduct audits, complete reports and manage any repair requirements
  • Physical capability to complete duties including assistance with setup of equipment, furniture arrangement etc
  • Assist in the review and implementation of service delivery including budget compliance
  • Collaborate on the design and facilitation of skills development programs for clients – support and encourage them to develop life skills and employment opportunities
  • General administration skills; computer literacy
  • Team player with good communication, active listening and decision-making abilities
  • Able to build relationships and develop rapport while maintaining professional boundaries  
  • Current clean NT Drivers Licence
  • Relevant degree and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment would be favourable

Before starting work with us, you will be required to undertake a national police history check, qualifications and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
