Graphic Designer

DarkLab Graphic Designer

12 month role, full-time

Hobart

DarkLab is on the hunt for a forward-thinking Graphic Designer who has a keen interest in music, art and contemporary culture. The Graphic Designer will have an understanding of design impact and will work with the communications team to create and implement outstanding design solutions and identify opportunities to enhance DarkLab’s brands including Dark Mofo, Odeon Theatre, Altar, In The Hanging Garden and Project X. The Graphic Designer will create a variety of artistic and communicative media for implementing DarkLab’s creative strategy, design identity and visual communications.

The Gig

  • Collaborate with the communications team to identify creative strategies that enhance DarkLab brands, their artistic and communicative media and online presence, and meet our objectives.
  • Work with the Creative Director and Marketing Director to develop concepts and designs for print and digital outputs including, but not limited to: printed collateral, outdoor advertising, web, progressive web app, maps, digital ads, social media assets and eDMs in line with the style guide.
  • Liaise with developers and other collaborators, and take responsibility for finished art and meeting deadlines.
  • Assist the design team with other jobs as required.

The You

  • Diverse portfolio with 3–5 years of industry experience.
  • Qualification in design or related field.
  • A good understanding of best practice for UX/UI design.
  • Proficient skills in Adobe CS including Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro and After Effects on a Mac OSX platform.
  • Knowledge of CSS3, HTML 5 and Javascript.
  • Experience in Sketch or similar and prototyping software.
  • Experience in finished art for printed collateral.
  • Ability to work autonomously while following creative direction and style guides in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with video editing, animation and/or sophisticated UX/UI transition states is required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work towards multiple deadlines.
