Facilities Coordinator

About New Century Resources

New Century Resources (ASX: NCZ) is an Australian base metal producer operating the Century Mine in North West Queensland with the aim of becoming one of the world’s top 10 zinc producers.

New Century acquired the Century Mine when it ceased production in 2016 and has executed an economic rehabilitation plan comprised of upgrading the mine’s existing world-class infrastructure. This rehabilitation was completed in August 2018 when the mine successfully entered production.

A rewarding opportunity now exists for a Facilities Coordinator to join our New Century Resources team based on site at Karumba. This position will be offered on a 5:2 (Residential) roster.

The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for:

  • Coordinating the provision of accommodation support for the Port Operation
  • Effectively monitoring and managing the cost associated with the provision of accommodation, personnel logistics and catering;
  • Developing annual budgets to support the facilities management and maintenance;
  • Sourcing and co-ordinating the facilities team to support;
  • Developing team members to achieve maximised skills sets as well as maintain legal/regulatory compliance;
  • Monitoring compliance with the company’s Health, Safety, Training and Environmental obligations
  • Developing and maintaining effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitoring any contracting and any sub-contracting arrangements supporting for the Facility management;

Key accountabilities will include:

  • High level safety, health, travel and administrative skills;
  • Risk mitigation skills;
  • Business improvement practices;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of competency in Microsoft Office systems (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Advanced experience with travel and accommodation management systems (e.g. SAM, Pronto)
  • Strong planning ability;
  • Ability to set and manage priorities;   
  • Introduce systems to improve efficiencies, monitor and evaluate performance;
  • General management of a 16 room accommodation complex and up to 15 residential dwellings
  • Supervision of casual cleaning staff
  • Accommodation, charter flight and airport transfer bookings
  • Liaise with NCR and Business partners staff on personnel logistics
  • Initiating and monitoring catering orders
  • Identifying maintenance requirements and managing maintenance contractors
  • Garden and pool maintenance at accommodation complex
  • Purchasing goods and materials
  • Carryout administration duties

Ideally, applicants will possess the following technical skills, knowledge and qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Facilities management in tourism or FIFO industry
  • Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures
  • At least 3 years’ experience in personnel logistic (air and land transport)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in use of Enterprise systems (Pronto/Sap/Ellipse)
  • Qualification (Cert IV or higher) in Business Management
  • Current C class (Manual) mandatory
  • Senior First Aid & CPR highly regarded
  • Development of direct reports and team building
  • Process of continuous improvement
  • Selection and use of cleaning tools and chemicals
  • Safety, Health, Environment and Community practices
  • Effective communicator at various levels (Management, Technical, Operational)
  • Conflict resolution
  • Customer support and service focus
  • Ability to work tactically and think strategically
