About the Position

 

The position is responsible for developing and managing a communication portfolio for the Transport and Traffic Branch. Including the provision of strategic advice, development of stakeholder communication strategies and engaging with corporate communications to deliver creative, assisting with articles for corporate and external publications, and some face-to-face stakeholder engagement.

 

Please Note: this is a temporary appointment until 30th June 2020 (with possible extension)

You will take responsibility for:

 

  • Manage strategic partnerships with external partners representing City of Gold Coast's stakeholder engagement interests in significant projects.
  • Develop and manage the portfolio of projects for upcoming stakeholder engagement opportunities and risks.
  • Support the Coordinator Stakeholder and Travel Demand Management to manage and implement stakeholder engagement programs.
  • Identifying improvement opportunities and making process changes to improve the way the Transport and Infrastructure directorate manage stakeholder engagement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of effective stakeholder engagement policies, procedures and processes to ensure clarity and consistency in approach and to promote best practice.
  • You are managing and developing one or more communications specialists.
  • Ensuring compliance to corporate communications and brand guides.

 

About You

 

  • Bachelor Degree of Communication (or similar) or have demonstrated equivalent experience and knowledge in a similar role.
  • Plan and manage the communication needs of a portfolio of projects
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Extensive experience in developing and delivering stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment while managing stakeholder relationships.
  • A high level of written, interpersonal and oral communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of professionals across a complex organisation.
  • Works well in a team and the ability to work in a multi-skilled team environment.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic advice and recommendations for stakeholder management.
  • Delivers high-quality services to customers (both internal and external) and can understand and manage customer expectations. 
  • Self-motivated and demonstrated initiative, creativity and the ability to foster enthusiasm among fellow staff.
  • A reliable individual who works towards achieving individual and team goals

Transport and Infrastructure directorate is ultimately here to deliver quality infrastructure and services that align with the broader organisation vision and purpose. The directorate consists of asset custodians, service providers and business support roles that all contribute to the overall management, delivery and maintenance of quality infrastructure and services.

 

  • The Transport and Traffic branch is responsible for the planning, operational management and delivery of enhancements to the City of Gold Coast's transport network. With around 150 staff across four units, the branch oversees an annual budget over $110million to deliver capital works, supporting operational projects and planning initiatives.
  • Transport and Traffic work under the strategic intent of the City of Gold Coast's Corporate Plan and implements the Gold Coast City Transport Strategy 2031. This framework seeks to ensure the city has a safe and efficient transport system which is responsive to the needs of the community and supports the achievement of economic, environmental and social objectives.
  • The branch works closely with many delivery partners, including the City's development and land use planning teams and the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads to plan and manage the transport system as 'one network'.
