What you'll be doing
The Ward Administration Officer is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the ward through the prioritising and planning of the workload.  The Ward Administration Officer is expected to have sound general office skills including strong computer knowledge and good communication skills.  

The position receives daily work from the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and provides administrative support to this busy unit. Responsibilities include carrying out clerical/ administrative tasks including providing an information service to patients and general public on matters relating to patient movements and admissions.

The position also provides administrative support to other services as required.


Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:


  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Demonstrated computer and data entry experience.
  4. Excellent administrative experience with medical terminology experience.
  5. Demonstrated experience in organising and prioritising workload.
  6. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Demonstrated ability to promote and achieve customer-focused service delivery.
  8. Capacity to work under broad supervision and to undertake a diverse range of tasks as an effective member of a team in a high pressure, high work volume environment.
