Junior Systems Administrator

Responsibilities:

  1. UNITAM Reference Environment
    • Carryout UNTIAM reference coordination activities
    • Carryout UNTIAM central processing management activities
    • Carryout UNITAM Morning and afternoon QC process 
  2. Network Management
    • Ensure network capacity and availability.
    • Maintain network integrity and security.
    • Monitor network traffic and performance, configure/optimise performance.
  3. Infrastructure Management
    • Monitor infrastructure performance and configure/optimise performance.
  4. Data Delivery Agreements
    • Adhere to daily data delivery contract obligations.
  5. Asset Management
    • Install and manage servers/workstations/laptops in accordance with Nielsen Television Audience Measurement standards and where appropriate industry best practice.
    • Maintain the asset register (both software and hardware).
  6. Installation and Testing
    • Coordinate the installation and testing of new sites and services.
    • Coordinate the installation and testing of new hardware/software.
    • Installs and configure software, both client and server, including Nielsen Television Audience Measurement and third party to meet user needs and new developments.
  7. Fault Rectification
    • Manage record and resolve faults/incidents/resolutions in the HelpDesk System or else seek advice and escalate to senior team members.
  8. Security
    • Maintain a secure environment with specific attention given to managing antivirus, physical network access, access to network resources, firewall, proxy and intrusion detection systems
    • Manage user system/network accounts according to level of network access and agreed service level.
  9. Backup
    • Manage of the backup system ensuring:
      • Backup jobs execute successfully
      • Failed backup jobs are resolved and normal operation is restored
    • Establish and maintain a relevant disaster recovery plan for all networks servers, enterprise and business applications.
  10. Documentation
    • Maintain all relevant documentation to Nielsen Television Audience Measurement accepted standard and where appropriate industry best practice.
    • Actively instigate and establish documentation where an opportunity exists and documentation is lacking. Making sure you do so in line with accepted Nielsen Television Audience Measurement standard and industry best practice.
  11. Processes
    • Follow the Nielsen HAT incident management process.
    • Follow the Nielsen TAM defined change management documentation/process when considering changes to critical systems.
  12. Travel
    • Able to travel interstate to support regional offices and UNITAM reference sites.
  13. Additional duties:
    • Comply with all reasonable directions and instructions given to you by the Director of IT Services or the IT Manager.

 

Person Specifications 

  • Qualifications (Diploma, or Degree) in Information Technology or similar
  • One of more Technical certification from Microsoft/Red HAT/VMware or Cisco 
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Troubleshooting skills of Windows desktop.
  • Networking/infrastructure skills (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience with Administration of Microsoft Windows and Linux servers.
  • Understanding of Windows Active Directory.
  • Practical knowledge of Network technologies and typology operations.
  • Must have good time management and organizational skills, be punctual and reliable.
  • High level of customer service skills is essential, with an ability to relate to people at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Desire and willingness to collaborate and engage with others in order to achieve team success and goals
